Traffic Analysis and Search Engine Optimization processes
Successful marketing strategy on the Internet requires both professional SEO development of your website, and analysis of your website traffic.  The effective tracking metric is 'unique visitors', not 'website hits.'  The use of 'hits' as a metric is misleading, and any company seriously interested in understanding who their web visitors are does not rely on hits.   The reason for this is that it is basically a meaningless number in terms of actual people and or companies who have seem your pages.  A page may have a photo on it and text and may show multiple hits for one visitor.

Strategic use of internet marketing involves a more sophisticated understanding than 'hits' can give you about your visitors and how they get to your site.  SEO development involves the following steps and more:
  • Competitor analysis
  • Architectural evaluation of your website to determine whether it can be optimized to be found by search engines, or if it is even plausible for the search engines to find key pages on your business site.
  • Analysis of online consumer behavior
  • Regular search engine submission
  • Regular search engine analysis which tells you how well are you doing on the major search engines for your key phrases.
  • Appropriate external links that get your business name in front of the right audience also requires getting your company in the right portals and vortals, where customers will look for find businesses in your category.
  • Appropriate links from search engine friendly directories.  This includes knowing which directories are integral for your link building strategy.
  • Understanding how to appropriately request links for key directories and not end up on a banned list.
  • Developing a website's fullest capabilities so that it works for you to attract new customers and clients and so that these visitors become so engaged they will not only want to come back to you but to tell others about your company, product and/or services.
